Protecting Life
Abortion is a complex and sensitive matter. As a nurse who fights for life, Summer Hartley does not support abortion being used as a form of birth control. However, as a medical professional, Summer Hartley supports abortion exceptions for cases which threaten the life and wellbeing of the mother, including rape, incest, the viability of the fetus, and the life of the mother.

Ensuring Fairness in Sports
Women have fought long and hard for their place and recognition in sports. There are many peer-reviewed publications supporting the biological difference in lung capacity and muscle development for men as compared to women. Therefore, Summer Hartley will uphold the integrity of women's sports by opposing policies that allow biological males to compete against females in athletic competitions, which is the same stance as the Olympic board on this matter. Summer Hartley will also advocate for protecting the opportunities for female athletes to excel in sports and earn scholarships and recognition based on their talent and hard work.

Preserving Privacy and Safety in Restrooms
Policies that allow individuals to use restrooms and locker rooms based on gender identity rather than biological sex can compromise the privacy and safety of women and children. We must balance the need for inclusivity with the need for safety, especially for women who have experienced domestic violence and/or rape. We must also create a safe place for transgender individuals to use bathroom facilities. For the sake of safety, including psychological safety, I will continue to support separate bathroom facilities for cisgender and transgender individuals.
